  • WPJA Results Are In!

This past week has been a busy one. We launched our first ever Boudoir Party at the super sheik Jet Hotel. There are going to be some very happy husbands and fiances this Christmas! We also have been working hard on some really big surprises that I can't wait to announce this week.

We have been patiently waiting for the wedding photojournalist association quarter 3 contest results to come in. They were finally announced last week and we were very pleased to see another one of our images recognized. One of our favorite couples from this year were Jennifer and Tally. You will remember them from this post. Their super fabulous reception at the Hotel Boulderado provided us with by far one of the coolest shots from this year.

This placed #20 under Cake Cutting.

There were so many amazing photos this quarter for WPJA and it was equally exciting to see so many of our fellow Colorado colleagues recognized. Adam and I would like to congratulate Alison Rose Photography, Kent Meireis, John Hudetz, and Adam Welch and all of the others who placed.  These are only a few of the Coloradoan's that placed you can view the full results here.

So, now we are paitently waiting for the artistic guild of the wedding photojournalist association to come out. We have our fingers crossed it will be very soon.

  • You asked...why are you different?

I woke up this morning pondering what I was going to blog about. As Adam headed to the office, I stayed home with Zoe, she was so excited to see how much it snowed last night and uber excited to see it was still snowing. So then I thought, well I'll blog about the snow or Zoe. Halfway through Adam's drive to the office he called me to let me know he was still in traffic and it was moving really slow. As we started talking, the topic of conversation turned to prospective client meetings.

With wedding planning in full swing and meetings with brides, grooms, and mother's of the brides we photographers get excited. Time and time again we get asked the question, "why are you different?" Yes there are a million different photographers out there, but in the end there's only one that's good enough for your wedding day.

You want to make sure that you find a photographer or photographers that fit your personality, style and vision for your wedding day. Most of the time Adam will say some funny joke to answer the question so everyone will laugh. Then he tells them how our passion for our craft is expressed through our work. We've been doing this a long time and we are always working on improving our craft. We give each other support on a bad day and always give each other suggestions on how to get better. Through communication with each other we've found our strengths and weaknesses and how to improve on those weaknesses. We always want our work to reflect our passion and the style of our client. We love taking a "raw" photo and making it into a work of art (as our good friend Otto would say).

Here is a photo right out of the camera:

    After we've worked on it:

Now when someone asks us why we're different we can say, "our passion for your day will show in the final product."

  • Our Little Princess...

I was downloading some family pictures to update our Facebook and MySpace pages, then I came across this one. People ask Adam and I all the time why we don't blog more about Zoe. Honestly, if we did there would be more posts about Zoe then the work we do on a daily basis. Our day to day life is really entertaining right now. Kids her age (3-year-olds) are so honest and egar to learn, most of the time its none stop laughter with Zoe.
    So, here's our little princess...

    Happy Wednesday!

  • Dana & Silas: Engagement

Adam met Dana and Silas in Golden for their engagement session. Someone once told me that most people meet their significant other at work. In this case Dana and Silas did. While they were working one day they both decided it was too nice of a day to be stuck in an office. They tried to convince their co-workers to ditch work and go to the movies but they ended up going alone. That day their love story began. They share a love for gourmet coffee and will share that love with family and friends on their wedding day with a cappuccino bar. They will exchange their I Do's on the day their love affair started five years ago. Dana and Silas, we are so excited to be apart of your day!

  • Audrey & Tim at Graceland Chapel, Las Vegas

Vegas....Wow. I don't even know where to begin. For our last wedding of 2008 we couldn't think of a better place then Las Vegas to celebrate a kick-ass wedding. This was our first trip to Vegas, I know its shocking. It was great to get out of town for a few days, hang out with family, and be able to do some personal work. As I've mentioned before it has been a big year in Adam's family. This time we were able to document his Aunt Audrey's wedding.

The first night we headed over to the Mirage for the Cirque du Soleil Beatles Love show. We went with Adam's oldest brother Eric, his girlfriend Tish and one of the biggest Beatles fan's in the family... Adam's mom. We love the Beatles, but the great thing about this show is you don't have to be a Beatles fan to enjoy it. If you haven't seen this show, you need to go. Its amazing.

Anyway, back to the wedding. Audrey and Tim met when she relocated to California. When we first found out that they were planning on eloping to Vegas at the Graceland Chapel, Adam and I knew we had to go. Seriously we had too, this was the same chapel that Jon Bon Jovi and Billy Ray Cyrus were married in.

After the ceremony we headed over to Harrah's for the reception at The Range Steakhouse. We had a great time getting to know Tim and his family and catching up with our family. There are a lot of men named Tim in Adam's family, so everyone would call him by his first and last name. When Adam's mom first heard about Tim from her sister Kelly she thought Kelly was calling him Timber. Needless to say the nickname stuck. Timber is one of the kindest, funniest, warm-hearted men we have met. It was an amazing day, we are very grateful to have been there. Audrey said the reason she fell in love with Timber was because he made her laugh. And its true, she never stopped laughing the entire day...

Congratulations Audrey and Tim, we are so happy the two of you have found each other. You are the perfect match.
     Enjoy the highlights....

  • Corrie & Troy: Lifestyle Session

Adam met Corrie and Troy in downtown Golden for a lifestyle session. Although Corrie and Troy recently got engaged their were looking forward to getting some photos for their Holiday cards. Troy is a pilot and Corrie is an in-flight nurse. Adam spent most of the session learning about their unique line of work. Have you ever wondered what would happen if you got sick or broke a leg while vacationing in Mexico? Well, Corrie and Troy are the people who transport the people who fall ill while on their cruises and vacations back to the United States. Not only were they doing something they love, they also found time to fall in love while doing it. Congratulations on your engagement Corrie and Troy and thank you for choosing A.H.P.

  • Michelle & Sean: Engagement

When we first met Michelle and her mom at our office, all of us clicked right away. They are so kind and funny, I think we laughed most of the meeting. Half way though we realized that Michelle and her family are distant relatives of Adam. Its no wonder we all got along so well. Michelle and Sean are getting married next year at Stonebrook Manor and we are very excited to shoot their wedding. Michelle and Sean are so loving and had a great time with Adam and Mike from Rising Moon Video. Adam and Mike walked Michelle and Sean all over Red Rocks Park for their engagement shoot and love story video. Congrats you two and thanks for choosing A.H.P. Enjoy the highlights...

  • Zoe's Favorite Place: Seattle

When Zoe woke up this morning she asked me "mommy are you going to blog?" When I told her yes she asked, "what are you going to blog?" As I started to laugh I had to remember that our daughter is 3 years old and although she tries to act older than that, she's still 3. I explained to her that mommy was going to blog about our recent trip to Las Vegas and Engagement Sessions we're working on. Although Zoe is in that stage where she asks a lot of questions, she did bring up a good point; "why don't you blog about Seattle?"

As many of you know we visit Seattle often and when I asked Zoe what should we blog about she said "Fun Center." I explained to her that we don't have pictures of family fun center and we would have to find something else to blog about. Then she said "Southcenter" that's when I realized that Zoe was telling me all of her favorite places in Seattle. I told her that even though mommy loves going to Southcenter mall, I can't blog about that, but I can blog about the amusement park. Zoe's third favorite place is the Seattle Center and riding the rides at the amusement park. So, here are just a few of hundreds of photos we have of Seattle, Zoe's favorite place...
